Sprouting Within

Sprouting within
There is an ache
In the core of our being

It feels just out of reach
On the tip of our tongue

We desperately try to fill
With things that satisfy
Our physical being

Senses overloading

A cuisine
Tantalizing to the tongue

A gaze
Alluring to the heart

A stroke
Sensuous to the touch

A melody
Seizing the emotions

An aroma
Savoring the memories

Reaching depths
But not fully satisfying

The ache still attending
The call of the innermost being
Is the call of God
A love unconditional
Faithful and true

A love
Unheard of on this earth
Besides the One
Called Jesus Christ

The ache will long
Till we reach heaven
Endure its sensation
By abiding in Him

Left or Right

image

I warily approach
A split on the worn path
Reminiscing of times
The journey went left and right

Where do they lead?

Left hurries me
To distant places
Where there is a notable cost
Right carries me
To the warmth of home
Where Christ is

I cringe at the thought of left
But its desires seductively
Draw me closer
Like a whiff of pleasing aroma
Eliciting to attain lasting pleasure
Of the senses

Right is arduous to start
At times it feels like
Just obeying
And I wonder
Can I handle its overbearing weight?

But as I faithfully step out
I am adoringly joined by Him
And He carries the burdensome weight

Allowing me to just be

What He asks
He delivers by His hand
That is the greatness
Of the great I AM
